Poland Trip - A Personal View

Poland, for me, was an amazing once in a life time experience. I was able to visit the camps that I had learnt about in History, however the 2D pictures we were shown did not prepare me for the emotionally moving experience it was. Seeing the cases of hair and glasses and false limbs at Auschwitz really hit me hard, in that these innocent people had their lives horrifically stolen from them.

Although the things you see at Auschwitz are shocking and disgusting it somehow still didn’t seem real. It has been made into a museum so you can’t actually imagine the conditions the Jews lived in. Birkenau which was purely a “DEATH CAMP” hit me quite hard. It was deeply depressing for me as I stood alone in silence and thought of the many lives that had been taken unnecessarily.

That said, the trip was also a great time for myself and my friends to spend time with each other away from home and take in the beautiful scenery of Krakow. I had a fantastic time and thoroughly enjoyed myself on the Poland Trip and I’m sure I will never forget it. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff that came on the trip with us and also for making the trip possible.
